IRS (Internal Revenue Service) Government Agency

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is a federal agency responsible for collecting and administering U.S. federal taxes, in accordance with the Internal Revenue Code, which is the primary source of federal statutory tax law. It is part of the Department of the Treasury and led by the Commissioner of Internal Revenue, who is appointed by the President of the United States for a term of five years. Among its duties, the IRS provides tax assistance to taxpayers, investigates and resolves cases of erroneous or fraudulent tax filings, and oversees various benefits programs. IRS Phone Support

IRS provides several helpline numbers for different types of tax-related queries, and the lines are open from Monday to Friday. Residents of Alaska and Hawaii are advised to follow the Pacific time zone, and the phone lines in Puerto Rico are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time. IRS Email Support

The IRS can only be reached via one email address, which is dedicated solely to reporting phishing and fraud schemes, and it is phishing@IRS.gov.
